Here is a Q&A with singer & performer Bianca I'ego. She talks about her experiences in music.
Where did it all start for you getting into music?
I sang before I spoke I was two years old. I absolutely love music it has the capabilities to change our mood or prompt memories, heal us and bring us together and so much more.
I don't think people truly understand how much music brings us together all walks of life all in one space soaking up the same sound its truly beautiful.
Who are your influences?
Aurora-she has earthy tones that hits your soul. Kate bush-for her expressions and vocal acrobatics. It's important live musicians influence you to. For me so many musicians do influence me. I love watching people truly enjoy what they do.
How do you decide what songs to cover?
Easy, I like it, can I change the key? do it! I don't really overthink it. The gift of being multi genre I suppose (except hard rock). I'm very versatile thanks to my dad who played pretty much everything growing up.
How important is it do you feel it is to listen to current music as well as music from the past?
It's important you listen to what makes you feel, anyone can sing a song but CAN you FEEEL IT AND PERFORM IT as the song was intended to be when they wrote it! approach every song with full respect for every lyric.
Do you feel it is important to watch other acts perform and to watch other live music?
Only if you go with the intentions to network & learn and NOT copy!
Finally what tips do you have for anyone starting out when it comes to performing live?
Soak up all the lovely interactions you have with other musicians it's nice to meet people that love the same thing as you do. Be open to learning from others. Don't copy anyone, be original and if you do covers do them your way. And enjoy it!!! Your enjoyment on stage is infectious.
Support others and stay humble.
